IMPORTANT!
It has come to our attention that ICMA members have been getting unsolicited calls and emails from a company (EHS-Exhibitor Housing Services) trying to get you to book your hotel rooms for the EXPO at a lower rate, or at other hotels, and misrepresenting themselves as being with ICMA.
It is important for you to be aware that this company is NOT affiliated with ICMA in any way, and we recommend you refrain from doing business with them. What they are doing is called “Room pirating” in the convention industry. It is a growing problem that many associations are working on fighting.
Please understand:
- Since they are fraudulently stating they are with ICMA, they should not be trusted with your credit card information.
- They tell people the Marriott is nearly booked and this is completely untrue – it is a scare tactic to get you to book through them.
- With entities like this, you should anticipate that once they have your reservation, there is no way to change or alter it at any time.
Additionally, there are many reasons to reserve directly through the ICMA room block and to stay at the host hotel with your fellow members. ICMA will suffer penalties if we don't fill our room block due to dishonest companies like this. We request and appreciate your support.
Information these agencies provide is often completely untrue, usually involving non-existent room blocks and false rates and non-refundable deposits. |

Winners of the Élan Awards Announced
Set against the backdrop of beautiful Aventura (Miami), Florida, the ICMA 2012 EXPO kicked off with a keynote address by Terry Jones, Founder of Travelocity.com, Chairman of Kayak.com and e-Commerce Pioneer, that discussed the concept of innovation in business and ways the card industry can adapt to new technologies and a digital way of thinking. ICMA members also contributed presentations on a variety of topics ranging from battery powered cards to mobile payments.
Continuing along the path of innovation, ICMA kicked off its new Personalization and Fulfillment Track which featured topics geared specifically towards the changing needs and challenges of personalization companies, fulfillment companies and their affiliates in the card industry. The track was well received drawing in over 80 participants in just the first session.
Back by popular demand, ICMA’s Speed Networking session provided exhibitors and card manufacturers with a structured approach to meeting industry companies they may not normally have an opportunity to meet. This year’s session was extended to give participants more time to network and many card manufacturers were grateful for the additional time to talk with new contacts and exhibitors.
Winners of the annual Élan Awards for Card Manufacturing Excellence were announced at the awards ceremony on April 17, 2012. The awards recognized the latest advancements and achievements in card design throughout the industry. Card manufacturers and vendors were honored for their excellent card design and innovative products. Check out the photos of this year’s winners.
