BÖWE CARDTEC announced that it has made key appointments in their sales force. The team size was doubled and is now led by new sales director Mario Weinfurtner. Mario joined the company in August, bringing with him extensive industry knowledge.
Mario’s team will be responsible for selling BÖWE CARDTEC’s whole card solutions portfolio, including card personalization and mailing machines, as well as the software suite PMP. The new sales team already had a very successful start selling numerous BC-alpha², the recently launched top-speed personalization system.
Commenting on his appointment Mario said, “I am very excited about the possibility to contribute to BÖWE CARDTEC’s continued success. Our flagship products BC-alpha² for card personalization and PCS for card mailing will enforce our position in the market and open even more opportunities in the world wide card personalization and mailing business.”
Bristol ID Technologies has named Herbert J. Ego as VP of Sales and Marketing. Since 2006, Ego has been CEO of Go-Global Consulting, a company he formed to provide international business development expertise to local manufacturers looking to expand to overseas markets.
Prior to that Ego founded his own biotech manufacturing company, Biocube, Inc. As CEO, he guided the company through start-up, debt and equity funding, technology development, and business development. After five years of double digit growth, he sold the business to BIOREM Technologies.
Prior to starting Biocube, Ego was vice president and general manager of Graver Technologies’ Industrial Filtration Division (formerly Consler Filtration). As director of sales and marketing, Ego and his team doubled the size of the company from $5 million to $10 million.
In the early part of his career, Ego spent 13 years in sales and marketing positions at Eastman Kodak Company. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from St. Bonaventure University and an MBA from Rochester Institute of Technology.
Additionally, Diane M. Morsch has been named as Director of Marketing and Customer Care. This new position is designed to bring more focus to developing new markets, to strengthen our presence in our existing markets and to work with our customers to ensure they are enjoying the very best buying experience.
Over the past 10 years Diane has held a number of positions, advancing from a sales support role to her most recent position of Sales & Service Manager.

CPI Card Group announced the newest member to thier senior management team, Ted Fick. Ted joins CPI as President and Chief Executive Officer. Ted brings more than 24 years of leadership experience to CPI; most recently he was President of Thermo King Corporation, a leading supplier of transport refrigeration equipment. Prior to that, he was Vice President of Commercial Tire Systems at Goodyear and Senior Vice President at Hino Diesel Trucks, a subsidiary of Toyota. He spent 17 years at PACCAR, where he held increasingly responsible leadership positions in sales, marketing, plant management and general management.
Ted has been recognized throughout his career for leading companies to record sales and operating income results, including strong strategic planning skills, cost reduction initiatives, building high performance teams and creating marketing differentiation to improve operating ratios. Some of his expertise includes general management, sales and marketing, supply chain management, cost reduction, lean / Six Sigma and product innovation.

Gemalto announced that Mr. Alex Mandl has been appointed as non-executive chairman of the board of Gemalto as of December 2, 2007.
Alex’s mandate as executive chairman of the board of Gemalto, which began on June 2, 2006 ended on December 2, 2007. The board is pleased to be able to capitalize further on the knowledge and experience of Alex within the Gemalto Group, which is of particular added value for Gemalto and its stakeholders. Currently, the board of Gemalto is composed of one executive board member, Mr. Olivier Piou, chief executive officer, and of nine non-executive board members.
Alex served as president and chief executive officer of Gemplus from September 2002 until June 2006. Formerly, he was chairman and chief executive officer of Teligent, a company he started in 1996. He also previously served as president and chief operating officer of AT&T, with responsibility for long distance, wireless, local communications and Internet services, and as chairman and chief executive officer of Sea-Land Services, Inc., the world’s leading provider of ocean transport services.
Alex is a board member and member of the audit committees of Dell Computer Corporation and of Horizon Lines, board member and member of the compensation committee of Hewitt Associates and board member of Willamette University.
Innovative Card Technologies, Inc. announced the departure of founder Alan Finkelstein. Alan most recently served as a Director and Chief Strategic Officer of the company he founded in 1993. He will remain one of Innovative Card Technologies’ largest shareholders.

The ICT DisplayCard integrates the security of a one-time password token and the RFID capabilities of an access card directly into a card the size of a standard payment card. At the push of a button on the card, a one-time password is shown on the card’s integrated display. During an online transaction, this number is entered into a user interface with other information (such as the user’s login name and static PIN) for multifactor authentication.

ASSA ABLOY Identification Technologies (ITG) has appointed Perry M. Garvis new Director Product Marketing Contactless Payment effective October 15th 2007. With this newly created position, the company underlines the strategic significance of its contactless product range especially in the converging markets of financial transactions and public transport. With a proven track record in developing and growing distribution channels, Perry will be responsible for further expanding ITG’s global contactless payment business. Located in Florida, USA, he reports directly to René van Ryt, Manager Business Segments Financial Transactions and Public Transport.
Currently contactless payment schemes are being deployed around the world to offer convenient payment solutions to the modern citizens. Perry’s main task will be to position and market ITG’s contactless offering which includes prelaminates, cards, special transponders, readers and OEM reader modules in this rapidly expanding market space.
Perry has over 30 years experience in marketing and sales of RFID, security and wireless technologies. He worked for market leaders like Texas Instruments, Motorola, Sensormatics Electronics Corporation and GE Interlogix. Throughout his career he succeeded in achieving outstanding results in managing both direct and indirect sales channels as well as quickly ramping up revenues. Garvis joins ITG coming from Texas Instruments where he last held the position of Director of National Accounts Contactless Payments and RFID Systems.
Jean-Francois Durand has been appointed vice president of Global Manufacturing Americas at Oberthur Card Systems. A 23 year veteran of the company with experience in security, printing, finishing, production and management, Jean-Francois was selected to develop and oversee a multi-million dollar investment in Oberthur’s U.S. manufacturing operations.
Over the next year, Jean-Francois plans on upgrading Oberthur Card System’s manufacturing processes and staffing at all U.S.-based plants. Millions of dollars of new presses and finishing equipment will be installed that will more than double contactless production capability and further strengthen production of dual hybrid and traditional mag stripe cards. Jean-Francois’ new staffing plans include increasing headcount to meet OCS growth. Previously, he served as vice president of operations of Oberthur Gaming Technologies in San Antonio, TX. Prior to that, he was a plant manager and managing director of Francois Charles Oberthur in Puy-Guillaume, a lottery printing plant. Additionally, his experience includes maintenance, R&D, printing, finishing and production departments, all gained at Francois Charles Oberthur in Chantepie, France which specializes in high-security printing, including banknotes, passports and traveler’s checks.
