The International Card Manufacturers Association (ICMA) serves the dynamic plastic card industry and the various companies and organizations involved in manufacturing and personalizing these cards. Billions of plastic cards now fill pockets and purses throughout the world. As the complexity of card manufacturing and applications has increased, so have the production, standards, quality, security and environmental issues surrounding the cards. The need to bring together these diverse elements of the plastic card industry led to the formation of the ICMA.
MISSION STATEMENT
ICMA is a worldwide non-profit association of plastic card manufacturers and personalizers supported by suppliers and other industry participants, which promotes the plastic card industry and the value of its products and services providing an independent forum to speak for the industry.

- The International Card Manufacturers Association (ICMA) is a global non-profit association of nearly 200 plastic card manufacturers, personalizers, suppliers and other industry participants which promotes the plastic card industry and the value of its products and services.
- ICMA serves the global plastic card industry which manufactures an estimated six billion plastic cards annually. That is about one card for every man, woman and child on earth. In 2001, plastic card volume reached 9.7 million cards annually.
- ICMA members are based in more than 30 countries and they conduct business in nearly every country in the world.
- ICMA officially participates in the two major standards organizations: the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the International Standards Organization (ISO).
- ICMA hosts the annual Card Manufacturing EXPO, a leading global conference and trade show dedicated to plastic card production.
- ICMA offers members-only card manufacturing workshops in an innovative, hands-on format covering diverse production topics.
